  • 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add chicken pieces and marinate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour, paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Remove chicken from marinade, allowing excess to drip off, and dredge in the flour mixture, shaking off excess flour.
  5. Fry chicken in hot oil until golden brown and cooked through, about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally.
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add additional spices to the flour mixture as desired.
  • Letting the chicken marinate longer will enhance the flavor.
