- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups vegetable oil, for frying
- In a large bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add chicken pieces and marinate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- In another bowl, mix flour, paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Remove chicken from marinade, allowing excess to drip off, and dredge in the flour mixture, shaking off excess flour.
- Fry chicken in hot oil until golden brown and cooked through, about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add additional spices to the flour mixture as desired.
- Letting the chicken marinate longer will enhance the flavor.
