  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, combine milk, egg, and melted butter.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling.
  6. Spoon half of the muffin batter into the liners, sprinkle with the filling mixture, then top with remaining batter.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

  • For a sweeter flavor, add a glaze made of powdered sugar and milk.
  • These muffins can be topped with cream cheese frosting for extra indulgence.
